Mario Vargas Llosa won the 2010 Nobel Prize for Literature.http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/08/books/08nobel.html?ref=nobel_prizes
In an interview with The Times in 2002, Mr. Vargas Llosa said that it was the novelist’s obligation to question real life. “I don’t think there is a great fiction that is not an essential contradiction of the world as it is,” he said. “The Inquisition forbade the novel for 300 years in Latin America. I think they understood very well the seditious consequence that fiction can have on the human spirit.’”
Give some examples of seditious consequences caused by whatever acts you might think of in the next few moments. Write them from the point of view of the human heart.

Your charge for today is to take the following horoscope and revise it to mean something quite the opposite, or seriously aslant.
“You may not feel overly imaginative today, but that doesn’t have to prevent you from being productive. Make a list of some things you want to accomplish, but don’t get hung up on what you don’t finish. Instead of focusing on what is not completed, give yourself enough credit for what you actually do.”

Today is your birthday! (ok, even if it’s not, pretend that it is.)
Peek through an almanac and find out some things that about your birthday — find out who else what born on this day in history, what happened on this day a century ago, take notes about anything you find interesting.
Now, write the story of the day before your birthday, from the point of view of the weather.

Take note of the typical fall colors — browns, reds, oranges, yellows, ochres, grays, etc, in your neighborhood.
Make sure the the piece you write includes this palette, but also some other colors that you see — like bright blue signs on the buses, or neon greens of grocery bags….

You receive a phone call from your cousin, with whom you are not particularly close. The cousin asks you for a favor: to come take care of him/her while he/she is recuperating from a fall off the roof of his/her house that resulted in 10 broken bones.
