Your favorite foods are important ingredients in your overall life. What other kinds of “foods” do you need in your writing life? How have these ingredients changed over the years? For example, you might not write as much on paper, but on a laptop or ipad. You might read books differently now too.
You might spend this prompt time thinking about your writing life and if you write something, great, if not, at least you’ll be thinking about nourishment.

It was an amazing gift, this morning, which arrived on sun rays shot through my shamrock heart like a thousand arrows.
The night’s gravediggers and bank robbers took their charcoal tools to the other side of the horizon and left them there in crates to pick up when dusk whispered — here.
What is your current favorite song? Does it have lyrics, or is it instrumental? If it has lyrics, write them down and examine them. If instrumental, write down the words you hear. Do this for several days in a row and see how your “ear” for things improves.

This is borrowed from a post by Poets and Writers. I thought it was great. Almost made me think that my posts suck, but then I remembered that the world is a big enough place for all of us. Hopefully, they won’t mind me reposting for your pleasure. We have different audiences.

Spend a few moments looking around your kitchen, office, or bedroom, and gather any found objects (not including books, magazines, or journals) that contain text: post-it notes, receipts, a piece of mail, the packaging of food or household products. Freewrite for fifteen minutes, recording as many words and phrases from the objects as you can, and taking note of any connections, associations, or themes that may arise. Then write an essay about what you find.
Enjoy,

The scenario is this: A man and a woman who are not related in any way are trying to get a 6 year old child down from a tree.
Should make for an interesting story or play or even poem of any length you make it. Questions to consider, most of which may be obvious: What are the names of the characters? Why is the child stuck in the tree? What kind of tree? What season is it? Whose child is it — the man’s or the woman’s? Where does this take place?
Have fun!
