Describe the longest, happiest, or most excruciating hour of your life without using abstractions such as fear, death, love, happy, upset, confused, etc.
Instead, infuse the piece with concrete words such as, chair, coffee, chartreuse, crooked, flavor, sand, shingles, crack.
Use word that you can seem, smell, hear, taste, and feel.
Notice how vivid the writing becomes when you force feelings to take concrete form.
