There are lots of cool fall festivals and fairs that are happening all over the state of Virginia this weekend, and in your state too, I imagine.
If you go to one, enjoy it, and when you get home, write down every detail that you can remember about what you saw. 20 minutes of detailing ought to do it.
If you’re not going out today, sit down for 20 minutes and detail what you remember from a past event.

It’s a tall order, but maybe it’s just what you need today:
Start writing the book you want to read.

Write a story about a pastime that used to be fun but is no longer enjoyable.
Questions to think about:
What was the pastime?
When was it done — and under what conditions?
Who did it?
What changed?
Is there a substitute, now?

Here’s your first line borrowed from Stephen Dobyns:
“These are the first days of fall”
Write a poem or story that begins with this line and also ends with this line. Include the following other things in your piece:
1) must mention an amount of money
2) must mention and explain a scientific term
3) must have at least 10 words that use double consonants and double vowels (two of which must have both pairings, like balloon)
4) must mention the full name of a controversial hero.
5) must include one item that is already of your Christmas list to give.
Have fun!
